Maytag Model 92 two cycle one cylinder gas engine. Typically used on early Maytag washing machines. Movie created by the One Banger Boys at the “Good Ole Days & Car Show” in Mt. Ida, Arkansas on 5/27/2006
I think they smoke so much because they disable the spark to hit n miss. Therefore it is still drawing fuel in when not fireing and wastes it all! I do love the maytag!
My Dad had one when I was about 13. I am 64 now so go figure…it was identical right down to the boards…looked and ran exactly like this one. We didn’t know what it was at first. Should have saved it…thanks so much!
yeah they’re really cool. it’s like they shouldn’t run but somehow they do, ha ha. I love how it spits when there’s no load on it. My friend had one. i wonder if he ever got it fired up. should took it when he wasn’t around.
Brings back memories-I had one of those back in 1960. Had a huge spark plug and I found in Houston at $3.00. It was a LINCON spark plug. It would bang and pop just like the oil well pumps down in East Texas.

1. Yes.. they use a gas & oil mix.
2. I don’t know the mix ratio. We don’t own the one in the video.

Do these Maytags use gas oil mix or straight gas? If mix what ratio?

Neat little Maytag. Not too many of these run in “as acquired” condition anymore.
Engine wouldn’t smoke so if you didnt put so much oil in the fuel…

My wife would love to have that engine running her washing machine. LOL. Fantastic thing.
